1.   Sf9 Cells: Derived from Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm) ovary cells, they are commonly used in the baculovirus expression system for high levels of recombinant protein production. 

   2.   Sf21 Cells: Another cell line from Spodoptera frugiperda, Sf21 cells are used in both baculovirus production and protein expression. They are similar to Sf9 cells but preferred for certain types of protein expression experiments. 

   3.   High Five™ Cells (Tn5): These cells are derived from Trichoplusia ni (cabbage looper) and are often chosen for producing higher yields of certain recombinant proteins, especially those that require proper glycosylation. 

   4.   Bm5 Cells: Derived from Bombyx mori (silkworm) cells, Bm5 cells are used for the production of recombinant proteins, especially when using silkworm-specific baculovirus vectors. 

   5.   S2 Cells: Derived from Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) embryos, S2 cells are used in stable transfection systems and can produce recombinant proteins without the need for baculovirus, making them suitable for long-term expression studies. 

   6.   Lepidopteran Cell Lines (e.g., IPLB-LD652Y): These are derived from various lepidopteran species such as Lymantria dispar (gypsy moth) and are used in certain baculovirus-based expression systems for specialized recombinant protein production. 

Insect cell lines commonly used for protein expression include Sf9, Sf21, High Five™, Bm5, S2, and other lepidopteran cell lines like IPLB-LD652Y. These lines offer a range of options for producing different types of recombinant proteins, with varying capacities for post-translational modifications and yield optimization.
